English Language and Translation
The Department of English Language and Literature continues to contribute to the development of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the first private university in Jordan, as a prestigious academic institution at the local and regional levels. The department offered a program in English Language and Literature in 1991 and offered a program in English Language and Translation in 2001. With its two programs,the department aims to build students cognitive skills as well as their analytical and critical abilities in English language, literature and translation. It also stimulates an effective engagement in constructive scientific research.
Mission
Preparing competent translators by providing an educational and research environment that supports the most important language, linguistic, cultural, intellectual, critical, and cognitive skills that are necessary to meet the needs of society, the market and the requirements of sustainable development.

Developing basic language skills for students in English and Arabic.
Developing students critical and analytical thinking skills by teaching the most important theoretical frameworks in the fields of language and translation.
Developing translation competence of students in various fields of translation.
Developing students oral and written communication and expression skills.
Applying the latest curricula and techniques in the field of translation.
